What is Royalty free music?

Royalty-free music commonly refers to stock or ' library music' licensed for a single fee, without the need to pay any subsequent royalties.

How it works

There are many applications for which music must be licensed but the traditional payment structure (in which a royalty is charged for each usage) would be cumbersome or more costly. Royalty-free music libraries address this by offering music that can be purchased for (in most cases) a one-time fee and then be used by the purchaser as many times as needed.

For example: If a piece of royalty-free music was purchased to be used on a multimedia CD project, it would not matter if one CD or 100,000 CDs were produced - the purchase fee would be exactly the same. Precise details of the payment structure vary from library to library, as specified in a license agreement.

How reliable is the contract?

We have tried in every way to make sure that you the musician gets the best possible deal and assurance of a fair deal. If you’re unsure then by all means check it with a lawyer yourself before clicking accept. Very simply put – when you click accept – you are agreeing to let us sell your music in our “shop” for a commission or percentage of the sale price.

What are MP3 files?

MPEG-1 Audio Layer 3, more commonly referred to as MP3, is a popular digital audio encoding and lossy compression format, designed to greatly reduce the amount of data required to represent audio, yet still sound like a faithful reproduction of the original uncompressed audio to most listeners.

What does “upload” mean?

Uploading and downloading are related terms used to describe the transfer of electronic data between two computers or similar systems. Their primary usage is as a verb: to upload is to send data from a local system to some remote system, such as a website.

Do I have to have email?

No – you could post a CDR of your MP3s to;

Libros Media Ltd,

Level 2

107 Cashel St

Christchurch

New Zealand.

However to upload MP3s, receive ongoing feedback, statements of your earnings and news from us it would be best to have an email address. An easy way to get a free email address is to get a “webmail” address; Try; - hotmail.com, gmail.com or yahoo.com
